The 24-year-old has recently been linked to Aston Villa, once likened to John McGinn.

This season, Unai Emery has led Aston Villa to yet another amazing campaign, with Champions League play being a genuine possibility. This summer, he’ll need additions.

Villa went from strength to strength this season after receiving European football through the Conference League the previous year. They are in the Conference League quarterfinals.

They are currently in fourth place and could play in the Champions League. Thus, Villa will need to add elite players come summertime, and Lewis Ferguson, the captain of Bologna, is now being connected.

After relocating to Italy in the summer of 2022, the Scottish celebrity is currently a sensation. Ferguson has been a key player for Bologna, who like Villa are in the top four. From midfield, Ferguson has contributed to 11 goals in 30 games.

Ferguson is reportedly someone Villa wants to sign after the season, according to Give Me Sport. Not shocking, considering how successful he is performing in Italy. Under manager Emery, the Midlands team does have options in attacking midfield.

Villa does not have a real no. 10 who can score late in the box like Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey, and others do, but they can all play in the role. Ferguson is a Scotland talent, that much is true.

In January, he was said to be joining West Ham for a £21.5 million transfer. It has been stated to Celtic and Rangers that they erred in not signing Ferguson. He might now play in the Champions League for Villa.

A player who happens to be the nephew of Rangers great Barry Ferguson, who in 2023 said on Go Radio that Ferguson played a lot like John McGinn, the captain of Villa. He adds that he wishes the Rangers had taken action for Ferguson.

“I prefer him going forward. Take the leash off of him. A little bit like McGinn. Get inside the box and in people’s faces. He poses a serious risk. When a former team (the Rangers) doesn’t consider individuals like him, it aggravates me.
