After enduring surgery on her ankle and wrist, Raducanu missed the most of 2023 due to injury, thus it was always going to be difficult for her to return to consistency soon.

Although her comeback from injury has been encouraging, she has had setbacks along the way. Most recently, she had to withdraw from the Miami Open due to a lower back ailment.

Raducanu appeared to be in terrific form when she came in France to play for her nation, as seen by a video footage that was published last week showing her exercising with a bandage on her leg.

A year after losing to the same opponents in the Billie Jean King Cup, Raducanu will be looking to lead Great Britain to victory over France.

A spot in the Finals in Seville in November is the reward up for grabs, and British aspirations have increased significantly since their loss a year ago.

With Raducanu’s second participation for her national team, the British have a formidable squad in Le Chaudron in Le Portel, France, thanks to Katie Boulter’s tremendous rise in form over the last year, propelling her into the top 30 of the WTA rankings for the first time.

Caroline Garcia will serve as captain of the France squad, which also includes Clara Burel, Diane Parry, and Kristina Mladenovic under captain Julien Benneteau.

A busy week of Billie Jean King Cup action has some of the biggest personalities in the sport representing their countries, including the France vs. Great Britain matchup.

In Poland’s match versus Switzerland, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will compete, and Naomi Osaka is scheduled to return for Japan.

Coco Gauff has opted against playing in USA’s tie against Belgium, but Jessica Pegula will line-up for a team that will be captained by Lindsay Davenport for the first time.

Simona Halep has withdrawn from the Romania team due to injury concerns after she was initially named to play in their tie against Ukraine, that will be played on neutral territory in America.

These are the ties set to take place on Friday and Saturday this week:

Australia v Mexico
Switzerland v Poland
France v Great Britain
USA v Belgium
Japan v Kazakhstan
Brazil v Germany
Slovakia v Slovenia
Ukraine v Romania

The eight qualifiers’ winners will join Italy (2023 runners-up), Canada (2023 champions), Spain (host), and Czechia (wild card) in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

In order to qualify for the 2025 BJK Cup Qualifiers, the clubs who rank last in this year’s qualifiers will play in the play-offs later in the year.
