According to a recent rumor, Celtic and Rangers are reportedly vying for a summer goalkeeper contract.

News of a Celtic move

Although the Hoops and Brendan Rodgers are now competing with those at Ibrox for the Scottish Premiership championship, the focus behind the scenes seems to be on the impending transfer window.

Before the 2024–2025 season, it is thought that Celtic wants to add a goalkeeper, winger, and striker. With Joe Hart stating his intention to retire at the conclusion of the current campaign, the goalkeeper position appears to be the most critical.

There have been several names mentioned to replace Hart, with Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor and Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool being two of the most frequently associated candidates.

Not to worry, though, as Werder Bremen’s Michael Zetterer and Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson are just two more recent additions to Celtic Park’s roster.

Celtic is interested in Middlesbrough’s goalkeeper.

Celtic is reportedly pursuing a deal to sign Middlesbrough goalkeeper Tom Glover, according to Australian publication FTBL. “Glover is high on Rodgers’ radar,” according to the article, although rival Rangers, Premier League team Newcastle United, and Danish team FC Copenhagen are all considering him.

After a breakout season at the Riverside, Glover has become a target and is “well positioned to be Mat Ryan’s heir” with the Socceroos.

The 26-year-old, previously on the books of Tottenham Hotspur, made the move to Middlesbrough from Melbourne City last summer and has made 20 appearances under Michal Carrick.

Glover, who was competing with Seny Dieng for first choice, received recognition from Carrick early in the season after replacing Dieng.

“It’s simple for me to talk about the team and how everyone plays a role, but when there are weeks without a game, it’s difficult for the players. The ability to persevere in the face of adversity and maintain self-motivation is the true measure of one’s ability.

“Well done, Tom. His recent success in games has been encouraging. And over the past several weeks, he has made some extremely significant saves for us.
