Just In: Red Sox Could Look To Former All-Star If Nick Pivetta Does Not…

If Nick Pivetta doesn’t get back to the Red Sox soon, they could resort to the former all-star.

Because of injuries, Boston should at least think about acquiring a bit more veteran depth.

Is it wise for the Boston Red Sox to add a bit more depth to the starting rotation from veterans?

Over the past few months, Boston’s rotation has drawn some very significant criticism. Although a lot of people predicted the team may acquire several elite free agents, after acquiring Lucas Giolito, the team decided to go with internal possibilities. The Red Sox made the decision not to sign Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery as a new acquisition.

So far, it appears like the Red Sox made the proper choice. It has shocked many that Boston’s rotation is perhaps the finest in baseball to this point. Everyhurler has been reliable and has done their share.

Despite the Red Sox’s strong start in the rotation this season, Nick Pivetta is now out of the lineup for Boston. Even if he has an elbow flexor strain and will likely recover quickly, an elbow injury is nonetheless cause for concern.

Pitchers have been suffering from injuries all around baseball, and while it has been suggested that Pivetta will return soon, it wouldn’t hurt to add extra depth in case he is off longer than anticipated or if further ailments occur.

One player that is still available and may be a great fit for Boston is Noah Syndergaard, a former All-Star. Surprisingly, he is still free agent and might perhaps be had at this time in a minor league contract.

While Syndergaard was hoping for a major league contract, the 2024 season is already well underway, so he may have to settle for less. Throughout his eight major league seasons, he has a 3.71 ERA and might be useful to Boston.

Boston’s depth option right now, Cooper Criswell, has filled in well for Pivetta since his injury. Why not add more depth with upside at this stage, just in case?
