Ex-Charlton manager fired by League Two team
Following their 2-1 home loss to Harrogate Town, League Two team Colchester United has fired former Charlton manager Ben Garner.
With the U’s since March, the former coach of Crystal Palace and West Brom has won seven of his 28 matches in charge.
Matt Bloomfield departed Colchester to join League One club Wycombe Wanderers, and Garner replaced him.
The 43-year-old has previously spent time at Swindon and Bristol Rovers.
Colchester is 23rd in the League Two standings, one goal behind Forest Green.
Ben Garner has been relieved of his responsibilities as head coach at Colchester United, the club announced in a statement on Saturday night.
“Board members will be debating the strategies to be implemented, both for the near future, with games on Tuesday and Saturday, and for the longer term.
“Colchester United would like to officially express its appreciation to Ben for his time spent with the team.
“No further comment will be made at this time.”
