To bolster their roster, the Baltimore Orioles claimed an infielder from the Los Angeles Angels’ waiver wire.
Before Spring Training begins, the Baltimore Orioles made one more move to complete their 40-man roster. Livan Soto, an infielder for the Los Angeles Angels, was claimed off waivers by the Orioles.
The Atlanta Braves signed the 23-year-old Venezuelan as an international free agent in 2016, but he was allowed free agency in 2017 after they broke international signing regulations.
The Angels then signed him to a minor league contract.
Since joining the Los Angeles organisation to sing, Soto has been in the minor levels; nonetheless, he did not make his Major League debut until September 2022.
He appeared in just four Major League games with the Angels overall.
Soto was added to Baltimore’s 40-man roster after being designated for assignment earlier in February.
Mike Elias, the general manager, is always looking to better both their farm system and the play on the big league pitch.
One of the players who potentially have an influence in the minor leagues is Soto. At just twenty-three, he stands to gain a great deal by playing with all of the Orioles’ best prospects and joining their elite development programme.
Though Elias has a talent for identifying individuals that can have an impact on the organisation, it’s still too early to tell where Soto will end up in Baltimore.
Expect Soto to see some action as Spring Training draws near, as he might wind up with one of their minor league affiliates or Triple-A Norfolk.
