Rumors and news about the Detroit Lions: A large target for free agents?, Details about Emmanuel Moseley’s contract, Craig Reynolds’ return

Live updates: Tracking Detroit Lions NFL free agency rumors, news, deals

Monday marks the beginning of the NFL free agency fervor, and the “legal tampering period” is expected to produce a flurry of transaction reports. So as he examines some Detroit Lions news and speculations, consider this the quiet before the storm.
After the Chiefs signed Chris Jones and the Ravens signed Justin Madubuike, Christian Wilkins, the top free agent defensive tackle, was sort of linked to the Lions by ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

“Christian Wilkins of Miami is expected to be a hot name after Chris Jones signed a big deal on Saturday night, with contending teams like the Texans and Lions looking to upgrade at that position,”
Wilkins makes sense for the Lions overall. However, there might be a bidding war for him because of his high price (Pro Football Focus projects a contract for $100 million, spread over four years). The Lions won’t likely engage in a bidding war for him.
Detroit Lions’ news before to free agency
Running back Craig Reynolds has been offered an exclusive rights free agency tender by the Lions, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN on Sunday morning. Either play for the Lions this season or not play in the NFL at all

For the past two and a half seasons, Reynolds has been the Lions’ third-string running back, largely used as a special team player and occasional kickoff returner. Given that Zonovan Knight has re-signed, it appears that the Lions won’t be making any significant summer additions to the running back position, despite the coaching staff’s obvious fondness for him.
News of the Lions’ decision to re-sign cornerback Emmanuel Moseley arrived this past week. Naturally, he only saw two snaps of action the previous season before rupturing his other ACL. He will thus receive another chance, and the specifics of his one-year contract are known.
