Located in Charlton, southeast London, England, Charlton Athletic Football Club is a professional association football team. The team plays in the third tier of the English football league, EFL League One.

The Valley is their home field, where they have competed since 1919. In addition, they performed at The Mount in Catford in 1923–1924. Due to financial difficulties and subsequent safety concerns brought up by the local authorities, they also played at Selhurst Park and the Boleyn Ground for seven years between 1985 and 1992. The Addicks is the most popular nickname for the team, which plays with red jerseys, white shorts, and red socks as part of their traditional uniform. Charlton’s immediate rivals are Millwall and Crystal Palace, two other South London teams.

Player Biography

George Dobson signed for Charlton in June 2021 after leaving Sunderland.

Dobson enjoyed nine years in Arsenal’s youth ranks before joining West Ham United as a 17-year-old.

The midfielder spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Walsall, who he joined permanently in 2018 after a short stint with Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch top flight.

After rejoining the Saddlers, Dobson captained the team and played in 65 games until agreeing to a transfer to Sunderland in the summer of 2019.
The fierce midfield player played 46 games for the Black Cats before moving to Wearside to play for Wimbledon in the second part of the 2020–21 campaign.
In his first season at The Valley, Dobson impressed with several strong performances in the center of the park. As a result, a staggering 77% of Charlton supporters chose the midfielder as their 2021/22 Player of the Year.
